YouTube to monitize Coronavirus

YouTube recently announced and made changes to its policy regarding the posting of contents by creators concerning novel coronavirus which can now be monitized on YouTube.
Initially, YouTube’s policies prevented the monetization of videos which includes sensitive events such as global health crisis, misinformation that could cause fear and panic etc. The platform also took steps towards prevented contents that had to do with mass shootings, terrorist acts and armed conflicts among others.

Speaking on the reasons behind the policy change, YouTube’s Chief Executive Officer, Susan Wojcicki said the decision to re-open monetization on videos referencing the health crisis was based on its relevance to educate and sensitize people on the virus.
Like all other monetized content, though, YouTubers who create coronavirus content will need to adhere to the company’s Community and Ad friendly guidelines.
