Motorola has been making waves in the flagship smartphone market, and its latest offering, the Edge 40 series, is set to continue that trend. With lightning-fast displays and top-of-the-line specifications, the Motorola Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro have finally made their debut, offering excellent value for money in the UK market.

Release Date of Motorola Edge 40 Pro and Edge 40

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro was first launched as the Moto X40 in China on December 15. It has now arrived in the UK and Europe in April 2023. On the other hand, the regular Edge 40 was launched on May 4. While it’s uncertain if there will be more models in the Edge 40 series, based on last year’s lineup, it’s likely that Motorola will release additional models throughout the summer and autumn months.

Pricing of Motorola Edge 40 Series in the UK, Europe, and Nigeria

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is available at a price of £799/€899 in the UK and Europe. Interestingly, this makes it even more expensive than last year’s Edge 30 Ultra, which was priced at £749. In Nigeria, the Edge 40 Pro is priced at ₦379,999.

On the other hand, the regular Motorola Edge 40 comes with a price tag of £529.99/€599.99 in the UK and Europe. In Nigeria, the Edge 40 is priced at ₦239,999.

While there are no official details about the pricing of future models in the Edge 40 series, it’s worth noting that the pricing may vary based on the region and availability of different variants.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro specifications

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro, previously known as the X40 in China, boasts impressive specifications. It features a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with a blazing-fast 165Hz refresh rate, perfect for mobile gamers. Powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, it offers 12GB of RAM and storage options of either 256GB or 512 GB. The phone’s 4600mAh battery provides day-long battery life and supports fast 125W wired charging.

The camera setup includes a triple rear camera system with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 12MP 2x telephoto lens. On the front, there’s a high-resolution 60MP selfie camera. The Edge 40 Pro also comes with Gorilla Glass Victus protection, IP68 water, and dust resistance, and runs on Android 13 with a promise of three Android version updates and four years of security support.

Motorola Edge 40 specifications

The regular Motorola Edge 40 retains some high-end specs from its Pro counterpart while keeping the price lower. It features a slightly smaller 144Hz display, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, it is powered by the MediaTek 8020 chipset. The camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with an impressive f/1.4 aperture, a 13MP ultrawide/macro camera, and a 32MP selfie camera.

The Edge 40 also supports fast charging, and wireless charging, and comes with IP68 water and dust resistance. However, it receives two Android updates up to Android 15 and three years of security updates until 2026.

In conclusion, the Motorola Edge 40 series offers flagship-level performance and features at competitive price points. Whether you choose the Edge 40 Pro or the regular Edge 40, you can expect powerful specifications, stunning displays, and impressive camera capabilities. With their sleek designs, fast charging options, and durability, these smartphones are poised to make an impact in the tech market.
