First, you’ll need to find the eSIM activation code for your carrier. This code should have been included in the box your phone came in, or you can find it on your carrier’s website.
How do I activate eSIM on my phone? Go to “Cellular” under Settings. Click on “Add cell plan”. Scan the QR code that you were given by the customer care representative. Input the phone number that came with the QR code if you are prompted to enter a confirmation code to activate the eSIM.
The activation of eSIM on the networks of MTN, Airtel, and 9mobile follows a similar pattern:
- To activate an eSIM on MTN, you must visit any MTN store. The company’s customer care agents will check your device for eligibility and walk you through the setup process.
- For 9mobile, the customer is also expected to walk into select 9Mobile Experience Centres and request an eSIM activation. A QR code will be provided to scan and download an eSIM profile and perform the usual SIM registration.
- Airtel also requires you to visit any of its Service Centres where the customer care agents will walk you through the process of setting up your eSIM.
How to activate eSIM on your iPhone
- Contact your network provider’s customer agent and request to be sent the QR code.
- Go to Settings on your phone and tap on “Mobile Data”.
- Tap on “Add Data Plan.”
- Scan the QR code that you received from the customer care agent
- The customer care agent will associate the SIM serial and PUK number on the QR code with your mobile number.
How to activate eSIM on your Android phone
- Contact your network provider’s customer agent and request to be sent the QR code.
- Go to Settings on your phone and tap on “Network & Internet”. Then select “Mobile Network” on your phone.
- Tap on “Advanced”, then tap “Carrier” and then “Add Carrier”.
- Scan the QR code you were given by the customer care agent
- The customer care agent will associate the SIM serial and PUK number on the QR code with your mobile number.
